Kelly draws her inspiration from the tragic works of Chopin, the brilliant simplicity of Satie and such modern-day masters as Bjork, Depeche Mode, Portishead, The Smiths, Fiona Apple. Although classical training and influnces are at the core of nearly every one of Kelly's songs, the final product is anything but 'classic'.

Kelly was awarded 'Best Song' honors by the Northern California Songwriters Association for her song 'Violet' performed at the Freight & Salvage Coffee House in Berkeley, Calfornia in 2001.
